This has always been the deal.
What I get: All the benefits and privileges that come with looking like a heterosexual, cisgender man.
What I give up: The right to fully be myself.
This has always been the deal.
What I get: The right to fully be myself.
What I give up: The Devil drives a hard bargain. The cost of turning it down is high. Ridicule. Loss of security. Ostracism. Belittlement or, just as likely, being treated like a delusional sociopath.
Because, after all, when offered a seat at the endless buffet that is Real Manhood, what person would turn that down?
The only cost, after all, is my soul.
